EM Bound newsletter medical students

This series has been retired

From April 2020 through November 2024, the monthly EM Bound newsletter helped medical students pursuing a career in emergency medicine cut through the noise: career advice, clinical pearls, residency application tips, and a little reassurance that everyone feels behind sometimes. It launched at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the usual ways students connected with mentors and programs had disappeared overnight, and it kept going for four and a half years thanks to a small, dedicated volunteer editorial team.

We’re incredibly proud of what this newsletter became, and even prouder of the students who found their way into EM with a little help along the way. To everyone still finding your path here: it’s okay if it isn’t a straight line. Ask the questions that feel too basic to ask. Find your people. Emergency medicine is a specialty that makes room for you. We’re cheering you on.

With gratitude and best wishes,
The EM Bound Editorial Team

Thanks also to our longtime sponsor, EM Over Easy, who shared our mission and supported medical student advancement in EM throughout the newsletter’s run.
